Call for Submissions – Volume 2, Issue 1 of the International Trumpet Research Journal (ITRJ)

The International Trumpet Research Journal (ITRJ) invites submissions for Volume 2, Issue 1, to be published on August 29, 2025. We welcome scholarly articles and performance-based research that explore trumpet performance, pedagogy, history, health, and innovation. Submission deadline: August 25, 2025.

The International Trumpet Research Journal (ITRJ) is pleased to announce the call for submissions for Volume 2, Issue 1, scheduled for publication on November 29, 2025. Following the successful release of its inaugural issue, the ITRJ continues to offer a peer-reviewed, open-access platform dedicated to advancing scholarly discourse surrounding the trumpet.

Journal Scope and Objectives

The ITRJ is committed to the dissemination of rigorous and original research encompassing all facets of trumpet studies, including:

  • Trumpet performance practices
  • Music pedagogy and educational methodologies
  • Historical and organological research on the trumpet
  • Performer health and wellness
  • Technological developments and their application to trumpet playing
  • Case studies and professional insights

As part of a broader commitment to innovative and inclusive scholarship, the ITRJ encourages both traditional academic articles and performance-based research submissions, such as documented performances, interpretive projects, and audiovisual materials relating to trumpet performance or composition.

Submission Guidelines

  • Deadline for submission: August 25, 2025
  • Notification of acceptance: October 1, 2025
  • Publication date: October 29, 2025

All manuscripts must be submitted via the journal platform: https://journal.trumpetresearch.com
Authors are required to register and adhere to the detailed submission instructions provided therein.

Manuscript Requirements

  • Submissions must be original and unpublished.
  • Maximum word count: 8,000 words (including references and appendices).
  • All manuscripts must conform to APA format (7th edition).
  • Include an abstract of no more than 250 words.
  • Submit a brief author biography (maximum 150 words).

Performance Research Submissions

The ITRJ encourages the submission of performance research in formats that may include recordings, concert documentation, or creative projects. These submissions must:

  • Be accompanied by a written description contextualizing the work and outlining its scholarly contribution.
  • Include access to the audiovisual content via a stable URL or permanent digital repository.

This initiative aims to:

  • Enrich trumpet research through multi-modal approaches.
  • Serve as an educational resource for trumpet students and professionals.
  • Encourage creative innovation and critical reflection within the trumpet community.

We invite scholars, performers, and educators from around the world to contribute to this dynamic and expanding field of research.
